Bill Maher Schools Michael Moore on Omar’s Unpopularity

Trump has repeatedly clashed with the group of freshman Democrats: Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (N.Y.), Ayanna Pressley (Mass.), Ilhan Omar (Minn.) and Rashida Tlaib (Mich.).

While the congresswomen are all outspoken critics of Trump and his administration, Maher questioned the lawmakers’ approval ratings in the general electorate.

“They’re not beloved, these people, because they don’t believe in things a lot of people believe in,” the comedian said.

Son of 9/11 victim criticizes Omar during speech at Ground Zero

Nicholas Haros Jr. of New Jersey wore a shirt that referenced Omar’s March remarks before the Council on American-Islamic Relations, in which she said, “CAIR was founded after 9/11 because they recognized that some people did something and that all of us were starting to lose access to our civil liberties.” After reading some victims’ names Wednesday at the event commemorating the 18th anniversary of the attacks, Haros Jr. said, “Some people did something,” while pointing to his shirt, on which those words were printed. The moment came as he spoke of his late mother, 76-year-old Francis Haros, as well as friends and co-workers who died in the World Trade Center attacks.

” ‘Some people did something,’ said a freshman congresswoman from Minnesota. To support and justify the creation of CAIR. Today I am here to respond to you exactly who did what to whom,” he said as some audience members applauded. “Madam, objectively speaking, we know who and what was done. There is no uncertainty about that. Why your confusion?”

“On that day, 19 Islamic terrorists, members of Al Qaeda killed over 3,000 people and caused billions in dollars of economic damage. Is that clear? But as to whom? I was attacked, your relatives and friends were attacked. Our constitutional freedoms were attacked. And our nation’s founding on Judeo-Christian principles were attacked. That’s what some people did. Got that now?” he continued. “We are here today, congresswoman, to tell you and The Squad just who did what to whom. Show respect in honoring them, please. American patriotism — in your position demand it.”

Republican Who Linked His Opponent to Omar Wins Close NC-9 Race

Trump, who has sent several tweets in support of Bishop and Murphy, held a rally in Fayetteville on Monday night in an attempt to push them over the finish line. Trump cast the special election, and the 2020 presidential election, as a fight for the status quo, describing Democrats as the “America-hating left.”

Tuesday’s results will do little to quell doubts over the political punch of Trump’s repeated attempts to paint progressive congresswomen like Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York and Ilhan Omar of Minnesota as the face of the Democratic Party, in a bid to sway moderate voters to the right and energize his base.

McCready’s near-miss could also signal that, for all that base might enjoy them, Trump’s attacks on lawmakers like Omar are a turn-off to moderates. The President held a now infamous rally earlier this summer in North Carolina, where the crowd in Greenville chanted, “Send her back!” as he railed against Omar, who was born in Somalia.

Netanyahu’s Election Rival Gantz Says He Would Have Allowed Omar Into Israel

Congresswomen Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib should have been allowed into Israel, Blue and White candidate for prime minister Benny Gantz said Monday.

“I think it was a mistake not to let [Omar and Tlaib] in, because we’re strong enough to let people see with their own eyes,” Gantz said in English at a Tel Aviv International Salon event. “If you’re not a Saudi [billionaire] the best place to be an Arab in the Middle East is Israel, and the second-best is the West Bank.”

Gantz said that “anyone who cooperates with BDS is operating against Israel and it is a form of antisemitism.”

Senator Jacky Rosen (D-NV) Says Support for Israel in Both Parties Remains Strong Despite Omar

“I believe that in both parties, Democrat and Republican support for Israel is bipartisan, it is strong and it is unwavering and I don’t see that changing,” she told The Jerusalem Post.

“They [Omar and Tlaib] are two freshman women out of 535 representatives in the House of Representatives and the Senate,” she continued, adding that “if you look at the votes there is strong bipartisan support and full Democratic support,” for Israel on a range of issues.

She noted that Democratic congressmen and women have been involved in fighting the BDS and promoting Holocaust education, and asserted that the hostile views of Omar and Tlaib toward Israel were unrepresentative of the Democratic Party.

DC Consultant Accuses His Estranged Wife of Lying About His Affair With Omar

“Since the time of Mr. Mynett’s departure from the marital home, Ms. Mynett began a negative campaign against Mr. Mynett, seemingly in an effort to ruin his career and permanently damage his relationship with William and his step-daughter,” said the counterclaim, which was obtained by Fox News and first reported by The New York Post. William is the couple’s biological son.

“Mr. Mynett denies that he told Ms. Mynett he was leaving the marriage for Representative Ilhan Omar (‘Rep. Omar’) or that he was in love with her,” the court filing said.

The original allegations, which Omar also denied, have since stirred up political problems for the lawmaker.

Omar’s Married Boyfriend Denies He’s Her Boyfriend

In his first public response, Mynett filed papers last week in D.C. Superior Court rebutting last week’s divorce filing by his wife, D.C. physician Beth Mynett, who claimed he had revealed a romantic relationship with Omar in April when the couple separated.

“Mr. Mynett denies that he told Ms. Mynett he was leaving the marriage for Representative Ilhan Omar or that he was in love with her,” says Tim Mynett’s filing. A spokesman in Omar’s congressional office reiterated Wednesday that she would not respond to inquiries about her personal life. In an interview last week with WCCO-TV, Omar responded “no I am not” to a question about whether she is separated from her husband or dating someone else.

Rep. Ilhan Omar’s husband wants divorce after affair bombshell: source

The congresswoman’s husband, Ahmed Hirsi, the source said, is poised to file for divorce after the revelation in a bombshell court filing that she allegedly had an affair with DC political consultant Tim Mynett.

The Minnesota congresswoman and her husband allegedly separated in March, and Omar asked Hirsi to divorce her around that time because she didn’t want to file the papers — but Hirsi refused, telling her if she wanted a divorce she should do it herself, said the source, who has known both parties for 20 years.

The husband allegedly changed his mind after Tim Mynett’s wife last week filed bombshell divorce papers claiming her spouse was having an affair with the Somali-born US representative — with Hirsi said to be angry he had been made to look the fool by the allegations of an extramarital affair.

Trump’s Well-Reasoned Attacks on Omar Are Facing a Big Test

Which raises a question: Have Trump’s fearsome attacks actually succeeded in making those four lawmakers — Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ilhan Omar, Ayanna Pressley and Rashida Tlaib — the face of the Democratic Party? How much of a liability is this really for Democrats?

We are now about to have our first big test case that might shed light on these questions.

Next Tuesday, voters go to the polls in the closely watched special House election in North Carolina’s 9th congressional district. This battle — between Democrat Dan McCready and Republican Dan Bishop — is being widely described as a big test of both sides’ messaging heading into 2020.
